In the last 24hrs we’ve had a big spike in signups to our waiting list. Woohoo!!  So, I thought I would post something with a bit more information for those who are just learning about Apobangpo.Space and Mastodon.

What is Apobangpo.Space?

Apobangpo.Space is a new social space for ARMY that runs on an open source platform called Mastodon.

What is Mastodon?

Mastodon is the open source software that I have used to setup Apobangpo.  The Mastodon software was created by Eugen Rochko and is developed by Mastodon gGmbH, a non-for-profit organisation based in  Germany. You can watch a video about it below:

 

The Fediverse is Cool!

Apobangpo is part of a bigger thing called the ‘Fediverse‘.

The exciting thing about the ‘Fediverse’ is its made, run and used by millions of people and groups who have created spaces for their communities to have fun and stay connected, without big companies (and weird rich dudes) spoiling the fun.

This is great because it means we can create a space of our own in the Fediverse, using Mastodon, that has a culture and Community Charter that is best for ARMY,  AND we can stay connected to other communities who are also out in the Fediverse too!

Be Kind to the Neighbours!

It’s important to understand that while we have a server of our own where we can make our own rules, we do have neighbours in the Fediverse, and they can see us and even join in on our discussions.  If you want to be in a space that is closed and only allows ARMY, Weverse is probably a better option for you.

I am really hoping ARMY can bring our special kind of positive energy and beautiful joy to the Fediverse neighbourhood and create a fun, inclusive, respectful, creative space. 

Let’s make our boys proud of us yet again!

How can you join?

Right now we’re just getting started, so I have a waiting list setup. You can join it by adding your details to the Waiting List here.

I’m sending out invites to small groups of about 50 ARMYs every few hours. This is helping me to manage our servers and make sure they don’t crash when hundreds of beautiful ARMY show up all at once. Please keep an eye out in your DMs and Email for your invite – which has all the info you need to signup and get started.

Who Made Apobangpo?

Ohhai – my name is Jo. I’m an ARMY from Australia, and I really like the internet and all the nerdy things. You can read more about me here and here and you can find me on the BirdApp here.

I am a MOTS era ARMY and I’m OT7, but lately, I must admit a little bit of a bias for my chaos trio – Jin, Jimin and Jungkookie. 🤭

You can also help by donating so we can pay for bigger, better, faster servers to host Apobangpo! I have created Apobangpo on a volunteer basis, and am paying the bills for now, but there are costs involved in hosting our Mastodon space, our website, and all the cool content that I know you’re all going to create.
