How to move my Mastodon account to Apobangpo.Space
Wanna move to Apobangpo.Space? Follow the steps below to migrate your follows and followers to our server.
Moving your Mastodon account to a new server is straightforward thanks to Mastodon’s built-in migration tools. Follow this guide if you wish to move your Mastodon account from another server to Apobangpo.Space while preserving your followers and follows.

A few things to note:
- Your followers will automatically be transferred to your new account.
- Your posts will NOT be transferred (they remain on your old server).
- You can redirect your old account to point to your new one.
- The process is reversible, but you will need to wait 30 days between migrations.

Step 1: Create Your New Account on Apobangpo.Space
- Visit Apobangpo.Space in your web browser.
- Click “Create account” and fill out the registration form.
- Check your email for a confirmation link and verify your account.
Pro tip: It’s a great idea to use the same display name and profile picture initially so your followers recognize you on your new server.

Step 2: Export Your Data from Your Old Account
Before migrating, you’ll want to back up your data:
- Log into your old Mastodon account.
- Go to Preferences (gear icon) → Import and export.
- Click Data export.
Download the following CSV files:
- Follows (people you follow)
- Lists (if you use lists)
- Blocks (accounts you’ve blocked)
- Mutes (accounts you’ve muted)
- Bookmarks (if desired)

Step 3: Set Up Your New Account as a Migration Target
- Log into your new account on Apobangpo.Space.
- Go to Preferences → Account → Account settings.
- Scroll down to Moving from a different account.
- Click create an account alias.
- Enter your old account handle in the format: @us******@********er.com.
- Click Create alias.

Step 4: Import Your Data to Apobangpo.Space
Still in your new account, go to Preferences → Import and export → Import.
For each file you downloaded:
- Select the import type (Follows, Lists, Blocks, etc).
- Choose Merge (to add to existing data) or Overwrite (to replace).
- Select the corresponding CSV file.
- Click Upload.
Note: Importing follows may take time if you follow many accounts.

Step 5: Initiate the Migration from Your Old Account
Now for the actual migration:
- Log into your old Mastodon account.
- Go to Preferences → Account → Account settings.
- Scroll down to Move to a different account.
- Read the warnings carefully.
- Enter your new account handle: @yo**********@*******po.space.
- Enter your old account password to confirm.
- Click Move followers.
What Happens Next
- Your followers will automatically see that you’ve moved and will be prompted to follow your new account.
- Your old profile will display a notice that you’ve moved, with a link to your new account.
- Your old account will be locked (you can’t post from it anymore).
- People viewing your old profile will see the redirect.

Step 6: Announce Your Move
Even though the migration happens automatically, it’s good practice to:
- Make a post from your new account announcing the move.
- Consider using hashtags like #Introduction to let people know.
- Ask people to boost your announcement to spread the word.

Troubleshooting
- “I can’t create an alias” – Make sure you’re entering your old account handle correctly, including the @ symbols and server name.
- “My followers haven’t transferred” – The migration can take several hours if you have many followers. Be patient.
- “Some people didn’t follow my new account” – Some servers may have federation issues, or some people may need to manually follow you. That’s normal.
- “Can I migrate again?” – Yes, but you must wait at least 30 days between account migrations.

Remember that migrations don't transfer:
- Your old posts and media
- Your favorites/likes
- Your notifications
- Your DMs (keep the old account accessible if you
- need to reference these)
